Notes for Jane Clements: Known as Janie. All four of her sons died between 1 and 22 months of age. They took in several foster children, among them was Gerry Hayes, who was Town Manager of Torbay in 1998 when Ken and Mary Lou Schneider visited Newfoundland.

COLE, Jane (Clements) - Passed peacefully away on August 23, 1993, in her 85th year, Jane (Clements) Cole of Torbay. Predeceased by her husband, Samuel and four sons. Leaving to mourn foster children Gerald Hayes (wife Donna), Michael Patey of St. John's, Thelma Verge (Harrison) of Harbour Grace and granddaughter Yolanda. Survived by a wide circle of family and friends, especially nieces Rita Bragg and Lyla Simmonds, nephew Cecil Clements and special cousin Maria Thorne. Resting at the Carnell Memorial Chapel, Freshwater Road. Funeral from St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Torbay at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 26th, 1993. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Nicholas Church Memorial Fund, Torbay.
