Selina Churchill48 was born Abt. 187148, and died September 14, 1906 in Torbay, Newfoundland48. She married Peter Cole on Abt. 1898 in Torbay, son of Uriah Cole and Catherine Manning.
Can someone tell me how to go about getting a birth certificate for my Gr-Grandmother, Maria/e May CHURCHILL. She apparently was born in Portugal Cove, Nfld. I estimate her birth date somewhere around the end of Oct (29-31), 1872.

I don't know if Caroline and Selina are part of my CHURCHILLs. I only have my Gr-Grandmmother Marie May CHURCHILL b. abt. 1872, apparently St. Johns or Portugal Cove. I just found out she had a brother John b. ?. My father tells me she had two sisers that he remembers that would visit Toronto from Newfoundland. He doesn't remember their names.
Will keep your details and perhaps we'll find a connection down the road.

Thanks for your reply, my Selena was born in Hodges Cove, Trinity Bay, the daughter of John and Susannah Peddle Churchill, in 1880s How ever we know little of John Churchill except he was born in 1826 in Portugal Cove. Maybe he is on your list. Jean

As for your first question, yes this is my family. My great great grandfather is Peter Cole, who married Selina, and had John Churchill Cole. My grandfather married Lina Clelleman. (Sp?) A little while ago I purchased a scrapbook to record your own family history and I thought it would be a neat heirloom so I started to do my (immediate) family tree with my Mom's side. Then when I got married in November in Cancun my cousin Val told me that someone in our family started to do a geneology search (I don't know which relative of mine, I forgot) so I looked up the name Cole on the internet, and found you, who has done all the work for me!
This is some information about her family that my mom gave me for my scrapbook:
John Churchill Cole born: June 14, 1900 in Torbay. Died Feb 14, 1985 of "old age". His siblings are: Irene Baldwin (full sister), Rachel (step sister), Doris, Gladys Field (who is a half sister), Hazel Uthe from Saskatoon (half sister). Mom didn't give me all their last names then, but I will ask, I also don't know half or step sibling to whom (the other parent is unknown to me). John Churchill Cole only attended school until gr 3. and started working when 13 years of age. He moved and worked in Boston Mass. when 19, then moved to Vancouver when 24 yrs old. Got a job as a logger and married Lina Clellamin Oct 23, 1925. They moved to Bella Coola in 1926 where Lina was from. He had various jobs, got recognition for working as a coast guard, and then fished and logged. He also worked as a warf manager and a prison guard. Mom gave me some interesting quotes from her father too, for when I fill out those sections of my scrapbook. Neat memories of hers, and interesting personal information for my kids when I might have some. His children with Lina are in order of age. (I can also privide birthdates if you wish): Violet Selina (deceased), William Marshal (deceased) Edith Carol Wilson (in Blind Bay B.C.), Hazel Alice Cole (Bella Coola), Allen James Cole (deceased), Patricia Elizabeth Dorsey(Bella Coola), Marjorie Alvina Fisher (my mom, Whitehorse, Yukon), Ernest Alexander Cole (Prince George B.C). I have many cousins, and can provide names of them after I get them from my mom. And my cousins also have children, and if you want, I can also provide these names. I get confused about who belongs to who and don't want to include names and confuse you too. Mom said Gladys Field is Peter Cole (1957)'s daughter. My mom and sister met them a couple of summers ago on their train trip across Canada.

Hi Ken! Just got back from a trip to Vancouver, Canada with my folks. We were able to visit a few first cousins of my mother (her grandmother was Maria Cole). One of those cousins is a lovely looking lady, Doris Hannigan, who at age 81 looks and acts like 61! And she is the product of one of those cross marriages--her father was R. Marshall Baldwin who married his second cousin, Irene Cole. So it does seem to have worked out in their family! My mother hadn't seen these 3 first cousins for 60 years! It was fun to get a bit of information from them. As far as the Cole line-let me share what Doris gave us...

Actually, I will be getting more information hopefully sooner than later. Maybe you have this already. I did get some information on our Baldwin line that I wasn't sure about.. Actually it was about an unknown brother of Robert Marshall Baldwin and my grandfather. Have a lot to find out still...I hope to get back in touch with Doris to find out about Irene's only brother, John Churchill Baldwin. I have no information on him. Have a good week. 2. My Great Great Grandmother was Susan Cole who married their son Henry Norman Bradbury. Susan and Henry's son grandson and g grandson were/are named Stephen Cole Bradbury.
