Giulio Bonaminio (b. April 07, 1877, d. December 20, 1938)
Notes for Giulio Bonaminio:
Immigrated to USA in 1896 at age of 19, according to 1910 census. Became Naturalized Citizen: February 26, 1910 in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania. Note: Birthplace in Montenero, Italy or known as Monte de Negro Valcochiaro (Black Mountain of the Highway Man), in the County Seat of Campobasso, in the State of Molise, Italy.Julius, wife Marianne, son Peter and daughter Thersa buried in Calvary cemetery, Erie, PA, section 3, second row from street on the west side of cemetery. Julius was a Stone Mason. Settled in Erie, PA to work on St. Patrick's Church in 1903.
Julius married Marianne DiFiore in Fall River, MA in January 1900. They lived at 10 Way Street in Fall River. (The Ziroli family lived at 4 Way Street, which was next door.) (Note: Way Street in Fall River is now known as Clarissa Street.) They moved temporarily to Newport, RI while Julius worked on a Catholic Church as a Stone Mason & Bricklayer. Their first child, Mary Saint Bonaminio was born there on November 1, 1900. After returning to Fall River, their first son Peter was born in 1902. They moved to Erie, PA so that Julius could work on St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Erie and then bought a home there at 1425 Plum Street. This couple had 8 more children, Genevieve, Alice, Theresa, Irene, Arthur, Dorothy, Rose & Ida between 1904 to 1913. Marianne died in 1928 and Julius continued to live on Plum Street until his death in 1938.
Julius and his son Peter (who was a Contractor) built the Formaini home at 3509 Maple Street in Erie, PA. It was moved into in 1929. Julius did the brick work on the home and fireplace. Special sand was brought in from Buffalo to mix with the plaster for the house. All of the woodwork was Cherry and the floors were "log cabin" style. This Brick house won an award as a Modern Home at that time. Two other homes were built by Julius & Peter nearby. One red brick home directly behind 3509 Maple, facing Cherry Street,and the other, a stone house, a couple of doors to the north, also facing Cherry Street.
(Julius may have an Aunt Carmella DiFiore who was married to Nicholas Ziroli in Italy. She was from Scapoli & he was from Montenero.) (See notes under Marianne DiFiore.)
