GERHARD HERMAN⁵ SCHEPERS (JOHANN HEINRICH⁴, BERNARD HERMAN³, HERMAN HEINRICH², GERHARD HERMAN¹) was born November 15, 1891 in RulhleTwist or Meppen, Germany, and died November 07, 1976 in Shawnee, Ok buried Calvary Cath Cem Shawnee. He married MARY CATHRINE WILHELMENIA SCHEIDT June 28, 1921 in St Benidict's, Shawnee, Ok, daughter of JACOB SCHEIDT and KATHRINA PETRICEK.

Herman Schepers is the name everyone knew him by, but we called him Papa. After he died we found out that his full name was Gerhard Herman Schepers, he refused to use the Gerhard because some relative he didn't care for.
      Herman Schepers joined the US Army for WWI was a training Sgt in Texas, as a German National he wasn't allowed to go over and fight, and he got his Naturalization papers while in the army. After the war he married Mary Cathrine Willhelmina Scheidt, aka Katie, Grammie. He worked for Kib Warren Hardware in Shawnee, where he lost an eye due to a work accident, they fired him because he was hired with 2 eyes and only had one. he later started a hardware company with a partner, later a Tractor and Implement Co., and finally a Water pump, water system business.
      After Grammy died he went with Mom, dad and Martin to pick up Greta and Tuffy from Fort Jackson, S.C., when she was getting out of the service. I have many fond memories of this. He later died of kidney cancer.

Notes for MARY CATHRINE WILHELMENIA SCHEIDT:
Baptized 02-11-1889 Sacred Heart Cath Church, as Catherina Wilhelmina, by Rev Bernerd Austermann, godparents: John & Wilhelmina Kramer. Confirmed 1898 at St Benidict's in Shawnee as Mary Scheidt by Fr. Blaise Haritchabalet (from church records) Grammie would pay me a dime to sweep Papas shop, and she always made me do it twice no matter how well I did it. When I was in the first grade I knew she and papa never put up a Christmas Tree, so I brought the one from school after we let out for Christmas, and she and I decorated it with paper chains, popcorn and other stuff. We would all come over on Fridays for lunch during the school year. We would have sandwiches, donuts, crab apple pie, pop, and ice cream. After we moved to Tulsa in 1965 she didn't think much of Tulsa and said she wouldn't enjoy herself there, so Mom and Dad took her to the Tulsa Rose Garden, she wore us all out and always had to visit the Rose gardens when she came to Tulsa. She died from injuries in an auto accident, march 1974 while I was on a overnight float trip with my friend Paul Tobin.My brother, Paul, was in the navy at the time and flew into OKC, Mr Bill Nicholas broke all kind of laws to get him to the church for the funeral. Herman, Sister Kateri, Aunt Kati Quinett, Uncle Quinett, & another Nun, were in the car when they had the accident. It was originally thought that Papa Herman would die and Grammie/Katie would not. -Martin Schepers, grandson

Notes for CATHERINE MARY SCHEPERS:
Catherine Schepers joined the Catholic Order of Sisters of Mercy. She taught in private Catholic Schools in Shawnee, Oklahoma City, Ardmore. She also taught in a public school somewhere in Texas. She played piano, always wanted to hunt for sea shells at Sanibel Island ( which she did do before her death). We as a family always have had a lot of respect for her and other nuns and priests who gave up so much. Near the end of her life she had accumulated a small sum of money she had saved $1-2 dollars a week, and felt so guilty for having this money since she had taken a vow of poverty.

14. ANNA MARGRETA⁵ SCHEPERS (JOHANN HEINRICH⁴, BERNARD HERMAN³, HERMAN HEINRICH², GERHARD HERMAN¹) was born September 24, 1893, and died January 10, 1986 in Shawnee, ok, Buried Calvary Catholic Cemetary NW of Shawnee. She married (1) CHARLES UNZNER. She married (2) MARTIN MEYERS December 31, 1918.

Notes for ANNA MARGRETA SCHEPERS:
Married Charles Unzner, Sr, raised her sisters (Gesina) daughter(Joan Clarkson), along with her daughter Marie , and son Charlie, Jr. . They operated Unzner Leather Goods in Shawnee, founded in 1903, I think. They lived on No Oklahoma Street in Shawnee.

After Gesina died her daughter was raised by her sister, Margaret Schepers Unzner, and her cousins Marie and Charles Jr
