Welcome to the Epler/McDowell Home Page. This page contains my family tree and a few reports on the families I am working on now. We have another site with much more information about our other families. You can visit our other site by hitting the "Schumann's Family Genealogy" under my e-mail address. We love to hear from others researching our family names. Please let us know of anything you can add or any errors we have.
I am researching the family of ROBERT B. McDOWELL. He was born in N. Y. state @ 1800-1810. He arrived in Galena, Illinois by Sept. 1834 and in Sept. 1835, he married ARCHANGE (ROBIDOUX) BATES. They had 5 children: JOHN BAPTISTE AUGUSTINE MCDOWELL, ROBERT MCDOWELL, EMILIE MCDOWELL, ROSALIE MCDOWELL, and MARY MCDOWELL. The family lived in Galena and St. Louis, MO. In 1848, they were in Keokuk, Iowa. Robert died or disappeared from records about 1854. Archange lived in Keokuk until her death in 1869.

I am also researching PETER EPLER. He had at least two sons, 1. DAVID EPLER, born 1802 in Reading, Berks Co., Pa, m. MARGARET UNCAPHER and 2. PETER EPLER, JR., m. ELIZABETH UNCAPHER. PETER SR. may also have had any or all of these children: CATHARINA, b. 1796 PA; SARAH, b. 1798 PA; JOHN, B. @1805-7, married SARAH DEWITT; JULIET ANN, b. 1808; &/or SUSAN. PETER EPLER SR. may have married either of these women: SARAH HOTTENSTEIN or ELIZABETH MACHEMER/MAGEMER. As you can see, we have alot of questions about this family. If you have any information that can help us, even if it's to say one of these children was not his, please e-mail us. Any clues will help. Thank you.
