Notes for George W. Long: ODEBOLT CHRONICLE October 18,1945 GEORGE LONG PASSES AWAY George W. Long was born to George and Margaret ( bulhner) Long in Kendall County, Illinois on December 16, 1867. At the age of seven his father's family moved to a farm 3 1/2 miles East of Odebolt Iowa. He attended school near here and this farm has been his home until his death. He married Mabel Mackey December 6, 1894 and to this union one daughter was born. Last year they celebrated their Golden Anniversary. He was of a quiet disposition. A week ago he became seriously ill and he died Monday October 15, 1945 at the age of 78. he was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Lulu Eicherly, a granddaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Johnson of Council Bluffs, and Mrs, Florence Mc Donald of Daytona Beach, Fl, many family and friends. Funeral services were held thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock followed by burial in the Odebolt, Iowa Cemetery.
