About 5 years after he died, he received a command invitation to the coronation of George VII of England.
Spoke High German.

In order to be able to afford sending their many children to college, the Schwald family, who were at that time in the mercantile business, bought the book store of the Drury College. As the children became old enough to go to college, they would manage the book store in order to help with tuition.

"When I was about 5 years old, he dressed up in on of Grandmother's old dresses, tied a sunbonnet on his head, and came bounding out of the side porch schreeching at the top of his voice. The group of boy and girl cousins playing on the front porch scatterd in all directions-- I hid behind a bush and wouldn't come out until he went into the house."

"In Cole Camp (and probably other German or Swiss communities) when a couple had become engaged to marry, someone was selected to be their ribbon man. He draped ribbons all around his hat and it was his duty to announce the couple's wedding plans to the groups of people who he either met on the street or called out of their homes to make the announcement. Uncle Albert Schwald was the ribbon man for many couples in Cole Camp, and all couples at that time had one. Ribbon man, that is."
