Daniel GALLAGHER (1841-1882)was born in Merriwa, married Mary TUITE in Singleton in 1869, and died in Scone. He was the proprietor of the first hotel in Scone, the Railway Hotel at the northern end of Kelly Street Scone, and renamed it the Belmore Hotel after Lord Belmore who opened the railway through Scone. After Daniel's death, his wife continued to run the hotel until her death in 1904.
