This photo of my 4th. class was taken in the grounds of Beecroft Public School in 1941. I am the shorter boy on the far left of the middle row. I was then shorter than the other boys in the class because I was generally a year younger than them. This happened because my mother had engineered for me to be admitted to 1st. class in the school at an age one year younger than the school's normal minimum admission age, because I "asked too many questions" when I was four.
