Mr.and Mrs. George Bates of Goshen celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, March fifth, with a family dinner held in the V.F.W. hall. South Main street. Seventy-five relatives and friends were present. In the afternoon the grandchildren presented the following interesting program: playlet. Mr and Mrs Bonald Overholt, Phyllis Sailor and James Bates; reading by Berdine Bates; song by Marian Blough; recitation by Norma Bates; songs by Shirley Ann Blough and Barbara Rohn; reading, Phyllis Sailor. The program was closed with a delighful group of marimba selections played by Bonald Overholt. Refreshments were served to the afternoon callers. Out-of-town visitors other than the immediate family were ; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crammer and family and Harold Pletcher of Hogate, Ohio, George Bowman of Middlebury, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lynn and Mrs. Mamie Swinehart of Elkhart. Donald Lockwood, and Miss Ruth Hartsough of Millersburg. Many lovely gifts were received by Mr. and Mrs. Bates. NOTICE: I have the names of most of the attendees in this photo.
