Descendants of Robert Price

Generation No. 1

1. ROBERT1 PRICE was born Bet. 1645 - 1650 in Hartford, or Glastonbury, CT. He married SARAH (WIDOW) WEBB Abt. 1677 in Northampton, Hampshire Co, MA, daughter of JOHN WEBB and ANNE BASSETT. She was born Abt. 1649 in Hartford, Hartford, CT, and died 29 February 1703/04 in Deerfield, Mass. in Indian Massacre.

Notes for R
OBERT PRICE:
Birth info is not factual...he could have come from Wales.

another source says he is the son of Richard Price, born about 1615, dying about 1680 at Piscataqua, NY, but there is no source or reference for this.

Northampton, Hampshire Co., MA, lies 40 miles up the Connecticut River from Hartford, and Deerfield, Franklin Co, is another 16 miles further north. Deerfield was organized in 1677.
Robert and Sarah Webb had 6 children born at Northampton, then by 1690 to 1694, Deerfield was considered safe to settlement, and the family moved there. But calamity fell. In the Deerfield massacre of 29 February 1704, the wife Sarah and daughter Mary, were killed by the Indians, children Elizabeth and Samuel were captured, and only Robert (who was a soldier under Capt. Turner) and son John who was also fighting the invaders, escaped death.
That Robert was still alive and living in Deerfield in 1716 is shown by a land record (Springfield, MA, Registry of Deeds, Book G.P. 130) "Robert Price of Deerfield for six pounds, five shillings, seven pence, from Henry Dwight of Hatfield, houselot in Deerfield, a place called 'Wappin' containing five acres more or less. Dated 15 February 1715/26."

The History of Deerfield has the following nores re Robert Price:
p. 159: Robert Price, Northampton, in list of men under Capt. William Turner at the Falls Fight on 19 May, 1676.

p. 196: Robert Price in list of those who owned land in the Common Field at Deerield, 5 Feb. 1686/7

p. 208: Robert Price in list of woodland laid out with number of Cow Commons, 20 April 1688

p 879: Robert Price buried in Old Burying Ground among "at least nine soldiers who followed Turner through the turmoil and din of the battle which cost him (Turner) his life...

The History of Northampton, by J. R. Trumbull, 1902, and The History of Deerfield, by George Sheldon, Vol. 2, shows children of Robert and Sarah (Webb) Price as follows:
