2. SAMUEL² PRICE (ROBERT¹) was born Bet. May 1689 - 1694 in Deerfield, Mass. or Guilford, New Haven, CT, age 75, and died 18 February 1768 in Sussex County, NJ - 75 years old. He married (1) DOROTHY FOX 07 April 1714 in Glastonbury, Hartford Co., CT, daughter of RICHARD FOX and BERIAH SMITH. She was born 1693 in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and died 10 February 1729/30 in Glastonbury, Connecticut. He married (2) SARAH PERRIN 22 May 1729 in Hebron, CT. She was born 1707 in Tolland Co., CT, and died 30 June 1761 in Sussex County, NJ.

Notes for SAMUEL PRICE:
Samuel, age 18, survived the Indian and French Massacre at Deerfield on the 29 February 1704. He was taken captive (see map) to Quebec, Canada and given the name, "Louis Price" and apprenticed to a shoemaker. He was redeemed or escaped by 1714. He later received land for his father's share in the Turner's Falls Fight.

Death date should probably be 1768 or 1758

Mr. A. E. Montgomery records Samuel's birth at Northampton, Hampshire Co., MA, about 1685-1686.

After his release from the Indians, Samuel reurned to Glastonbury, where he married Dorothy Fox, and they continued to live there for the rest of their lives.

Glastonbury deeds show that in 1723 he was given lot #50, which he later sold to Jonathan Hale for 3 pounds, 5 shillings, and which he described (Vol. 4, page 92) as "one certain parcel of land situate and lying in Glastonbury...containing by estimation 32 acres and 2/5th of one acre being the same more or less and lyeth in that grant of land commonly called the five miles and was granted to me by the Town of Glastonbury at their meeting December 23rd Anno Domini 1723..."
