Third Clerk of Northampton County, Virginia, he first appeared in Northampton records, June 1642 ad "Mr. Edwyn Conway, Clarke of this Com (Commonwealth) in the county of Northampton." In the first grant of land in his name, Oct., 1644, he is recorded as "Edwyn Connaway, of Northampton, Clarke." He came to Virginia about 1640. His estate exceed 10,000 acres.
