SCURRAH FAMILY HOME PAGE. This home page is dedicated to research regarding the history and descendants of the Scurrah Family. This project began with a family tree handed down to me by my grandfather, Charles Webster Scurrah. He began working on the Joseph Scurrah family tree back in the 1940's.My efforts to continue building our family tree are dedicated to him. There are two primary efforts underway.First of all, I am trying to determine the relationship of the various Scurrah families that emigrated to North America in the 1800 and 1900's.Are all of the Scurrah's living presently in United States and Canada descendants of just one or two families ? One of the largest and best documented Scurrah families that emigrated during the 1800's to North America was the Joseph Scurrah family.Joseph Scurrah, born 1798 in England, married Hannah Ogden and moved with ten children to the US around 1837. They apparently had two children in the New York area, then moved to Ontario, Canada sometime before 1851. The second research effort is to try to determine where Joseph Scurrah, his wife, Hannah and the ten children were born in the UK.Initial information indicates that the ten children were born in either Liverpool, England or Ashton Under Lyne, which is close to Manchester, England. It is not currently know where Joseph or Hannah were born. If you would like furthur information, please explore the family tree book listed below. In addition to the Joseph Scurrah family tree, it also lists the family trees of Alfred G. Scurrah, Cass Scurrah, Charles Castling Scurrah and Jane Scurrah. The latter family trees were gracioiusly sent to me by other Scurrah descendants. It is not known at this time, how the families mentioned above are related. Any help that you could provide regarding the Scurrah family history would be greatly appreciated.Even if you don't have anything to add, I would love to hear from you if you are in anyway related to the Scurrah family.
