Around 1796 John Sears R.S came from North Carolina and settled in Montgomery County, Georgia. With him came a son named David and a daughter named Pollie. John was married to Tabitha Sears. After receiving a land grant in Montgomery County in what is now Wheeler County, he farmed and had 2 more sons: John & Harrison and one daughter named Rebecca.
David and John moved to south Georgia in what is now Atkinson County, while Harrison remain in Laurens County near his father.
It is from these Sears' that the Sears of South Georgia owe their heritage.
I have over 900 names of Sears and their descendants and will be glad to share.
I am looking for the location in North Carolina that John and Tabitha Sears came from. There is a possibale they came from Virginia or Maryland and just passed through NC. Any Help will be appreciated.
