The Richard B Sears' of Atlanta, MO

Updated November 16, 2000

I have been researching the following family names: Koller,
Farmer, Smithson, and Funkhouser. These are all on my side of the family. On my husband's side I have been working on the following: Butler, Sears, and Wells.

The Koller branch of the family orginated in Switzerland. They belong to the Mennonite Church. The Government persecuted them and they were forced to move to France then Germany and from there to the United States.

The Funkhousers are descendants from some of the earliset settlers in the Shenandoah Valley. They were for the most part German speaking immigrants from the Rhineland or Switzerland. They also were Mennonite refugees from the canton of Berne.

The Farmer family and the Smithson family orginated from England.

On my husbands side the Butlers are from Ireland and the Sears and Wells from England - I think.
