| Researching the surname Sagevicius, from the Vilkaviskis/Pilviskiai region of Lithuania. Family name originated in 1813 when a survivor of Napoleon's army settled near Birzai, Lithuania. Approximately 20 members of this family came to Waterbury, CT between 1882 and 1914. Associated family names: Rugienius, from the Prienai/Klebisku area, immigrated 1894-1906 Gailiunas, from Vabalninkas near Birzai, about 1908 Slavinskus, from the Vilnius area, about 1907 Many of the Lithuanian names listed have variant spellings.
