The Maine Seekins' ancestry dates back to Aaron Seekins (1st)b. 1690 in Cambridgeshire, England. The Maine connection is through Aaron Seekins'(1st) grandson, Aaron b.1750, d. bef. 1840 in Maine.
In 1970, Paul O. Seekins of Ohio published the Seekins genealogy, including all Seekins across the country, at least the ones that he found. However, some families in Maine, and elsewhere, were omitted because connections were lost. I hope to update Paul O. Seekins work, and add any lost connections into the line.
As of Nov. 29, 2002, the entire Seekins genealogy as printed in the 1970 genealogy was added to this database. In addition, several lines omitted have been added and all lines have been updated as much as possible. In printed form, the document numbers up to 250 pages as of April 2006. This database has been privatized, deleting birth dates for living individuals as much as possible.

As of July 2014, this database will NO longer be updated per the genealogy.com plans to move to a read-only format in September. The primary and original info will be left as a reference only. Copies of the database may be available from the listed contact.

A new outline descendant tree for Aaron Seekins also was added in 2002.
We've "met" several Seekins descendants across the country through this site and we know there are more out there.
The descendants of Florence and S. Wesley Seekins, late of St. Albans, Maine, meet annually in August, and have now for more than 40 years. Any Seekins are welcome to join us. Please check for a date and location.

In FEBRUARY 2004, I put out a last call for data to update the Seekins genealogy database. I had hoped it would be the last time I would add new data, but it just keeps coming. In 2008, I again tried to finalize my Seekins research, to no avail. Now in 2014, I regret, at this time, I am unable to update the posted database any further...I no longer use the program that created it and genealogy.com does not support updates.

It's time for another generation. I expect (hope?) to publish what I have accumulated and share it in printed form. There will be a nominal fee for the publishing, of course. Thanks for all the help and good luck on any continuing research. It appears many other, younger, generations have picked up the search...THANK YOU.

Family Photos

  • One St. Albans, Maine, Seekins family, abt. 1913 (24 KB)
The Seekins of St. Albans, Maine, were a fun-loving farming family where everyone pitched in for work and fun. This photo taken after 1912 shows Jennie as the youngest although she also had a younger brother, Alfred, born before she was a year old. Four other siblings were likely not born when this photo was taken. From left, family members are Aunt Bertha Seekins Davis, Joe Seekins, Wyna Seekins, father S. Wesley Seekins, Gordon Seekins, Iva Seekins Neal, Harold Seekins, mother Flossie Emery Seekins, Jennie Seekins Springer in front, grandmother Susie Chase Seekins and grandfather Stephen Sylvester Seekins. The family resided on the Palmyra road in St. Albans.
