I was born in Wallasey, Wirral,UK. My family originally came from Scarisbrick, Lancashire and the family name was spelled SEPHTON. My branch changed to SEFTON about 1840.My mothers maiden name was Ashton and that branch has been traced back to Par,Cornwall,about 1840.
My Great Grandfather,Samuel Ashton, married Mary Jane Langsford on 11th May 1865. Hence my middle name.
It is also known that John Ashton and his nephew James T Ashton emigrated from Cornwall to Houghton, Michigan,USA around 1875.John Ashton was a copper miner.
