~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Please visit my extensive Genealogy Home Page at http://genealogy.sefton.info Outline trees, hundreds of identified photos, several wills, biographies (new ones being added frequently), maps, newspaper articles, lots of useful links; and the transcription of Bartlett-Ellendale Cemetery in Shelby County, TN with photos, history, maps, and other background information. 13th generation MAYFLOWER-Stephen Hopkins lineage/Member General Society of Mayflower Descendants. NEW-holidays & celebrations pages! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Our immigrant ancestor, Henry SEFTON, was born in Antrim, Ireland in 1779. He emigrated to America in 1796 and married in Butler County, PA in 1801. He and his wife, Jane "Jennie" QUINN, had 10 children: Edward, Sr., James, John, Robert, Henry, Jr., Jane, Mary Ann, Catherine, Ellen, and William. Henry, Sr. is my childrens' 5x great grandfather - I am researching any and all generations/branches of his descendants as well as all of the related Sefton branches. My primary area for Sefton research has been PA (Butler, Westmoreland, and Allegheny Counties) until the modern generations, who live all over the U.S. I am also researching the other families that have married into my husband's lines as well as my familial lines. These surnames include: THOMPSON, HAY, SEITZ, THORN, MAIZLAND - MAISLAND - MAITLAND)(Scotland), SANDROCK, KYMES/KIMES (England), BAYLESS (England), HAZLETT, DAVIDSON, CANNING, GIBSON, VADAKIN, WALTON, ASH, HOWELL, BARNES, KELLY, RACE, SEYMOUR, GUYLOTT, SNOW, NORTH, CHELLIS, MANBECK, MINCKLER, WILDER, BEULS, and DILLINGHAM among others! Most of these folks or their ancestors came to the US from England, Scotland, Germany, and Ireland in the early 1800's. Some surname lines traced back to the 1500's. Stateside, our extended family has lived mostly in western Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Tennessee with a quite a few heading west to Colorado and California. There were several from New England (notably the Ash/Snow/North lines which trace back to Nicholas Snow of the Anne/1623 and Constance Hopkins of the Mayflower/1620) during the early generations whose descendants migrated to the Midwest. I've documented several Civil War veterans, all of whom fought in the Union Army in PA regiments, and I'm searching for the graves of as many of our ancestors as possible. I've recently begun working on a cemetery transcription project here in TN in an effort to repay some of the kindness shown to me by others in places too far away for me to personally visit and photograph. I have 27+ years of research on our ancestors (3,300+ and growing) that I'm willing to exchange/share. I'm always interested in finding additional information on any and all of the lines. Nearly all of my data has been verified by more than one source but I'm ALWAYS looking for additional support material and previously unfound relatives! On-line located members of our family so far include people in Scotland, Canada, England, and Australia plus Delaware, California, Ohio, Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Colorado, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, New Mexico, Connecticut, and, of course, MANY in Pennsylvania, especially in Butler County! REMEMBER: If we don't ask, we'll never know. . . and if we don't record what we do know, our descendants will wish we had!! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Please visit my extensive website at http://genealogy.sefton.info for frequently updated, ever expanding family information! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ |
