Researching the SEGAR family, my direct line, from the Sheshequin area of Bradford County, Pennsylvania (1800), to the Jefferson and Orleans Parishes of Louisiana (1873-present).

Henry Segar, IV married Lenity Wadsworth on 2-7-1765 in Duxbury, Mass. Henry Segar, IV was born 4-22-1741 in Newton, Middlesex, Mass. He was the son of Henry Segar, III and Elizabeth Coolidge. Henry Segar, III was the son of Henry Segar, Jr. and Ruth Learned. Henry Segar, Jr. was the son of Henry Segar, Sr. and Sarah Bishop. The Segar family was from Newton, Massachusetts and there is a great book written by Francis Jackson called History of the early settlement of Newton, County of Middlesex, Massachusetts, from 1630-1800. Henry Segar, Sr. is the first known Segar descendant.

*Henry Segar from Brattleboro, Vermont, came to Towanda Creek in LeRoy, as a settler under Connecticut title in 1800. Henry afterwards purchased 190 acres of the Asylum Land Company, which in 1819, he and his wife, Lenity, sold to Jacob Bowman.
Henry's daughter Emma Segar, taught the first school in Canton township in 1803.
Henry Segar was a Constable of Canton in the year 1805.
*Ebenezer Segar remained in LeRoy with his father Henry, until 1805, then settled in Sheshequin.
Ebenezer Segar married the widow of Josiah Marshall; Sybil Brown (d/o Thomas Brown IV & Patience Brockway) and occupied the Marshall homestead until Ebenezer's death.
They had the following children:

Ebenezer Segar is listed on the Sheshequin, PA 1850 census as living with his wife Sibyl: age 77, Julia: age 35, and Henry Shaw: age 12.
Collins Marshall Segar (s/o Ebenezer Segar & Sybil Brown), married Charlotte Spalding and had the following children:

Anna Eliza Segar (Mrs. William K. Marshall);
Charlotte Segar; (no information on marriage)
William M. Segar (married Melissa Cleveland);

Charles E. Segar (no information on marriage)
Collins M. Segar is listed on the 1850 and 1860 Sheshequin, PA census with his wife and children. In addition, with them in 1850 was listed, Edward Marshal, age 52, born in PA, dumb.
Collins' obituary reads:
Collins Marshall SEGAR died at his home in Sayre, PA, Oct. 23, 1896 of paralysis, aged 71 years. Deceased was a native of Sheshequin and had followed the occupation of carpentering, shoemaking and farming. During the civil war he served for about one year in the construction corps under Capt. Rickey. Besides a widow, Charlotte Spalding Segar, the following children survive him:

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Myra Kingsbury, were held from the Universalist church in Sheshequin, Sunday afternoon.
Lawrence W. Segar (s/o Collins Marshall Segar & Charlotte Spalding) married Marie Caroline Oates (d/o James Cain Oates and Marie Sicard) of Pointe Coupee, Louisiana.
They had the following children:
