Notes for Levi Rutledge: The minister for this marriage was Ambrose Henkel. In the 1860 US Census for Augusta Co., VA, Levi is listed as age 49 and living in the Western Lunatic Asylum in Staunton; his occupation is blacksmith. In the 1870 US Census, Levi is living in Bath Co., VA with his daughter Elizabeth Crizer.
The burial places of Levi and Magdaline in Piattsville have never been located. Piattsville was a PO and community of about 10 houses; it was about 5 miles southeast of Rockville, T15N, R7W, Section 36. This compiler, a minority of one, believes that Levi died in VA and is buried there. All other Rutledge descendants in Parke Co, IN, agree that Levi did, in fact, die in Parke Co., and is buried in Piattsville.
