Cornelius came to this state in the year 1886 and located on a farm about 11 miles north of Salem. On this farm he lived all the remaining days of his life, and when the call came for him to quit this life, it came to him here at the old homestead, while visiting a little season with his daughter, Mrs. E. Plank.
About 45 years ago he was converted to christianity under the ministry of Rev. R. M. Freeman and united with the Methodist Church. Later he transferred his membership to the Presbyterian Church and remained in this faith a consistent christian until his death.
Cornelius enjoyed the confidence of all those who knew him. Not a single person has spoken derogator to his character to the writer. His children have branched off from the old home tree and become the leading citizens of their respective communities. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will rise up to call him blessed.
Cornelius leaves to mourn his departure four sons, W. E. Rhinehart of Salem, Mo.; G. A. Rhinehart of Vinita, OK.; F. O. Rhinehart of Salem, Mo.; and D. F. Rhinehart of Ink, Shannon Co. The large crowd who came to pay the last tribute of respect was an evidence of the esteem in which he was held by the people of the home community. Following the service his remains were tenderly laid to rest by the side of his beloved companion, there to await the morning of the glorious resurrection. By N. D. Hobson.
