Self Family Home Page

Updated November 7, 2001

I am researching the Self family of Virginia in the 1700s. With help from the World Family Tree, I have traced the Missouri Self family line back through Tennessee and Kentucky to Virginia. I would like to try to link to the Selfs living in Virginia in the 1700s. Our line is: Job Self, b.1760, probably Virginia; m. Mary, b. 1760. They had at least two children: (1) Joshua F. Self, b. June 10, 1798, KY, d. August 28, 1880, New Lebanon, MO; m1. Patsey Harmon; m.2 Elizabeth Chilcoat, b. about 1880, TN, d. after 1860, MO; m.3 Trymandia Rothgeb, b. July 7, 1828, VA, d. October 26, 1887. Joshua and Patsey had at least two children: (i)John Henry Self, b. Cooper County, now Morgan County, Missouri, November 26, 1823, d. July 8, 1903; m. August 7, 1842, Martha "Patsey" Jones, b. June 5, 1825 in Versailles, Morgan County, Missouri, d. October 18, 1890. (ii) Job Fountain Self, b. 1826, MO; m. January 27, 1847, Elizabeth Ann Smith, b. about 1826. (2) Fountain Self, b.l794, KY, d. March 25, 1857, Texas, MO; m1. Sarah Williams, b. 1797, TN; m2. Sarah Sullins, b. June 6, 1800, d. November 11, 1880.I am also interested in learning the fate of Samuel W. Holt, born June 5, 1884, in Philadelphia, PA; married to Caroline Mae Haines, in 1905. He disappeared in the early 1920s.Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have. Updated November 7, 2001.
