* The Penn Family Page*

Updated January 12, 2003

The progenitor of the Penn family in Chattooga County, Georgia was William Penn, born March 10, 1785 in Caroline County, Va. He was one of eight children of Philip and Martha Haliday Penn. His brothers and sisters were Kitty, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary, Lucy, Joseph, and John. Another John Penn, this one a cousin of William, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

We are researcing our Penn Heritage beginning in Virginia in the mid 1700's and forward to North Carolina and Georgia.

Please feel free to email me if I have information that you may find helpful or have information to share.At this point I am focusing on the following areas:

1. Information on Phillip Penn and his children. Phillip's father Moses Penn.

2. I have been told that William Penn b.March 10, 1785 was a cousin of John Penn, the third signor of the Declaration of Independence. I want to find that connection.

Any contributions will be greatly appreciated. A special thanks to Ray Hand for all of the great information.
