The progenitor of the Penn family in Chattooga County, Georgia was William Penn, born March 10, 1785 in Caroline County, Va. He was one of eight children of Philip and Martha Haliday Penn. His brothers and sisters were Kitty, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary, Lucy, Joseph, and John. Another John Penn, this one a cousin of William, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. |
