I am currently researching both my husband Graeme and my family trees.

SURNAMES on my line are: Cunningham. Humbert. Miller. Sutherland. Merrick. Blackman. Harley. Bleakley. Salmon. Pawson. Heddle. Cotterell. Huggins. Foster. Hancy. Pell.

~James Blackman and his wife Elizabeth (nee Harley) arrived in Australia as free settlers on the 'Canada' in 1801.

~Edward Merrick was a convict arriving on the 'Surprize', one of the 2nd Fleet. He married Mary Russell, a convict from the 3rd fleet, on December 24th 1791 in Sydney

~Thomas Miller, a Sergeant in the 73rd Regiment of Foot, arrived in Sydney on the 'Anne' in January 1810 with his wife Catherine (nee Sutherland). They were married in Canongate Church, Edinburgh, Scotland in 1805

~George Duke Cunningham arrived in Australia in the 1840's from Ireland. He married Jane Phillipine Bowes also from Ireland in 1846 in Sydney.

~Bridget Salmon married George Bleakley in St Mary's Cathedral, Sydney in 1854. Bridget was born in Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland.

~Henry (Heinrich) Humbert arrived in Sydney, as a 5 year old with his mother, Dorothea, brothers, Ludwig & Christian, and sisters Elizabeth and Frederika on the Wilhelmsberg in 1855. The father, Jacob had died on the voyage to Australia. Dorothea remarried the following year 1856, to Charles Gietz.

~John Cotterell, convict, arrived on the Aurora in 1833 married Fanny (Frances) Huggins in St James Church, Sydney in 1843. Fanny also a convict, arrived on the 'Mary Anne' in 1838.

~Charles Jackson Pawson married Margaret Jane Heddle in Brisbane
in 1885. They returned to England approx 5 years later with two sons, Thomas and George. They all returned to Sydney on the 'Orizaba' in 1896, Margaret's sister Laura also came. Laura died in 1896 and Margaret died in 1897.

~Michael Hancy arrived on the 'Minorca'with his 2 children in 1801 as free settlers. His son, Henry married Sarah Pell in 1825 in Sydney. Their daughter Sarah married Thomas Foster (born in Yorkshire to Samuel and Martha Foster) in St Phillips Church, Sydney. Following Samuel's death, Martha married Robert Earl. She apparently started a school for Girls which was to be Fort St. Girls High School.

~Carlo Marina arrived in Australia from Italy in 1856. He arrived in Port Melbourne on the 'Goffreido'. He settled in Young as a grazier and farmer. He married widow Eliza Tout (nee Harcombe).
Their son Carlo C.W. Marina married Helen Taylor in Yass. She was born circa 1860 in Battersea, London to Edward & Mary Taylor (nee Hain).
