OBITUARY
Herschel Windel Simmons
Rip Simmons, 60, a resident of the Melrose area all his life, died at Memorial Hospital in Clovis Tuesday.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday from the First United Methodist Church in Melrose with the Rev. Joe Woods officiating. Burial will be in the Melrose Cemetery.
Born Nov. 23, 1913, in the community of Field north of Melrose. Mr. Simmons was a veteran of World War ll and a member of the United Methodist Church of Melrose. He had been employed as a car salesman for a number of years and had served for 14 years in the state land office.
Survivors are step-sisters, Mrs. Willard Moberly of Melrose and Mrs. Ruby Robinson of Levelland, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sis Simmons Countess of Clovis.
Steed-Todd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rip never married and was laid to rest next to his mother, Fannie in the cemetery North of Melrose.
