I am currently trying to find and prove my mother's Rogers connection. My 3rd Great Grandmother was Drupina/Drupiney Rogers. She was born abt 1797 in North Carolina and died abt 1855 in Savannah, Hardin County, Tennessee. She was married to John M. Cooper. I believe she may be the daughter of Everett Rogers and his unknown first wife. A small group of Rogers descendants from Everett's family and Drupina's family have combined forces to try and find proof of a family connection. We currently have been able to find a male Rogers descendant to do the yDNA test and should have those results back in May 2008. We are now trying to find two female descendants (one from Drupina and one from either of the three daughter's of Everett, Armizza, Margaret or Elizabeth) to volunteer to submit a DNA sample for mtDNA testing. This test would be at no charge to the donor as my Rogers group has agreed to pay for the tests. Collecting DNA to submit for testing consists of a simple swab of the inside of your cheek. If you think you meet the criteria for testing please contact me by email and I will call you on the phone. You would have to be a direct line female..or a male with his mother being a direct line female as mtDNA is only passed from mother to daughter or son but the son cannot pass it on. Only females can pass mtDNA forward. | |
