Louise Strohbehn's Prayer Book

Louise Strohbehn's Prayer Book
When I spoke to Bill Bebensee (William Jr.) in California, he told me the story of a prayer book that his dad had given to him. (See the scrapbook for a picture of the inscription in the book from when Louise was confirmed.) It was a song book or hymnal that was given to Louise upon her confirmation. Bill used this book as a starting point in researching our relatives when he went to Germany as it had the name of the small village where they lived. Louise's mother, brother and sister left Germany shortly after the confirmation date. Bill was able to look up the church records in Lutjenburg and visit the church where she was baptized and confirmed. While in Darry, Bill looked in the phone book to see if there were any Strohbehn's still living there. He found a name and decided to drive by the house. When they got to the house, there was an old woman there sweeping the walk. Bill took a chance and approached her and asked if she was any relation. He showed her the book and she said that was her grandfather's sister that had gone to America to marry a Bebensee. Her name is Brunhilde (Strohbehn) Schell.
