I am try to find more information on my great grandfather Joseph S. Sexton. Joseph served with the Union army during the Civil War, joining the army from Missouri. His brother (first name unknown) served with the Confederate army. After the war the two brothers could not get along, and the brother moved to Tennessee. As a young boy Joseph, his mother, brother (b.abt 1840), sister and father moved from Tennessee to Illinois. I do not know the names of Joseph’s parents, but his mother may have been Julia Goodman, grandfather may have been William Goodman, sister may have been Mary Sexton, and the brother may have been John Sexton. If you have any information on the family of Joseph I would like to hear from you.
