| I am researching the family of Bright Watson who was born in North Carolina about 1802-1804. His county of birth is unknown but by 1830 he was living in Duplin County North Carolina with his wife Mary, who is believed to have been a daughter of James Watkins, and two children under the age of five, one female and one male. Names of these children are unknown at this time but both were listed in the household when the Bright Watson family lived in Marion County Georgia in 1840. Neither was listed in 1850 when the family lived in Dale County Alabama. Other children born to Bright and Mary between 1833 and 1849 were Frances K. born in North Carolina, William Pinckney born in Sumter County Georgia, David B. born in Georgia, Joseph Howell born in Sumter County Georgia, Sarah Jane born in Georgia, Mary born in Georgia, Louisa born in Georgia and Issac A. born in Alabama. Another possible child was Elizabeth but there is no further information on her so she could be the daughter in the 1830 household. Mary (Watkins?) was born in South Carolina in 1808 and died in Alabama in 1888. Bright died before 1860 - presumably in Dale County Alabama but some descendants believe he was buried in Thomas County Georgia or Thomasville Georgia. I descend from son Joseph Howell Watson and have information to share on this line. Any information on the remaining children, parents and siblings of Bright would be appreciated. |
