I am researching the SEYMOUR family. My great grandfather was George Leonard SEYMOUR, a Portrait Artist, also a painter of animals, buildings and landscapes. He was also an 'Illustrator' working for various newspapers and magazines in England, mostly in London. His flourishing period as an artist was 1886-1916. His last known employment was as an Illustrator with the 'Illustrated London News', which employment terminated in 1916. He is thought to dave died shortly thereafter. His date of birth is not known but thought to be mid 19th century.
He exhibited and sold his artwork is England, U.S.A. and France.
It is believed he had at least one child, a daughter, Mary Elizabeth SEYMOUR, who emigrated to Sydney, Australia whilst still a teenager in about 1910.
