Co A 31st VA Regiment, "The Marion Guards" from Fairmont and Barrackville lists George W. Cooper, age 18, farmer promoted to corporal. The 31st VA regiment was in Phillipi, WV in June 1863. The 31st was not formally organized until a couple of months later in Monterrey, VA. The regiment was pro Marion Grays.
