 Includes NotesNotes for Joseph Sharp:
This researcher is not totally satisfied with evidence of Joseph's ancestor line on back through B. to Thomas. Major research is based on a letter to me from Nellie (Morse) Pamer. The text of letter follows: "Dear Dr. Sharp, Because of age and failing vision it is difficult for me to write. I did not think I could answer your letter but will try. I sent all of my Sharp records to my sister in law in Texas, to hold for her son, Stephen Morse. She is not familiar with these records and I do not think she could help you. Robert A. Stevenson,, Wyoming, Box 136 Published the Magee Family (note: I have his book, meet with him) and in this book he gave records of the Sharps and Munnells. He may be able to help you. I do know that Joseph Sharp's father was Nehemiah Sharp who was in 1790 census in Allegheny Co. He had large acreage and 500 sheep. He married Mary Edwards. Mary's father's will is in the court house in Pittsburgh and in it he mentions his daughter Mary, the wife of Nehemiah Sharp. Edward Sharp was in Allegheny Co. at the same time as Nehemiah and it is quite certain he was the father of Nehemiah. The Sharps were in Beaver Co. which later became Lawrence Co. Nehemiah had three sons. John, Moses and Joseph. Joseph b. 1774 d. Oct 3, 1854. He married Anna Neely b 1788 d4/19/1856. Joseph and Anna lived on farm next to Mt. Hermon Church and are buried there. Nicholson, son of Joseph was born July 29, 1818. He married Sarah Munnell who was daughter of James and Martha (Elder) Munnell. this Magee Genealogy by Robert Stevenson gives good accounts of the Munnell, Rose and Elder Families. I had hoped to go to Pittsburgh to the court house to look up land records and wills. The earliest deed of Nehemiah or Edward may tell from what place he came. And no doubt there are wills of many of our ancestors and relatives. I hope you can read this. It is difficult for me to see what I have written. I think you will find the Magee book very interesting if you are able to locate a copy. Good luck in your research. Sincerely, Nellie Morse Pamer"(wife of Horace Wilbur Palmer, Attorney at law)
