NOTE: If John Shaddy Jr.'s date of birth is correct then his father (John

Sr.) was just over 16 years of age and his mother (Elizabeth) was just

over 6 years of age. It's possible that his father was 16 years old but,

its probably not so that his mother was 6 years old, Elizabeth was

probably his step mother. {All of these dates need to be proven}.......

NOTE: John Jr. served in the Revolutionary War and fought in the Battle of

Guilford Courthouse March 15, 1781. All of the original War records spell

his name as SHADDY. Apparently the spelling was changed to SHADDAY by his son Emsley. Emsley

was 56 in 1860 and signed his name SHADDAY.

According to a book by Neal N. Cotner (in the Bedford County Library-Shelbyville, Tn.), the third child of

Peter Cortner was Christianna, born 1775. The fourth child was David, who married Millie Coble. Check

with Ed Coble of Winston Salem, N.C. Mr. Cotner's records from the Old Brick Church show that Peter

Cotner was born 1740, married 1762, and died after 1853.
