Notes for James Perisho: James father died when he was 2 yrs old. In 1681, a land grant (in trust) was issued to James and his sister, Ellener. This was quite exceptional in early colonial times for a land grant to be left in trust to minors.
In 1690, James selected Stephen Manwarring (Spelled Manneringe) as his guardian. It was so ordered that he manage the orphan's plantation until he comes of age or cause it to be managed to the advanage of said orphan and give bond therefore. (Colonial records of NC 3-433)
Apparently James could not write, for on many of the documents it says, (X) mark of James Perishaw (Various court records, Mar 1698 (CCR 187)
Perquimans Co. tax lists skip from 1721/22 to 1742. Thus other children born to James and Mary , or any born during this period are not listed.
