Notes for Mary STANDISH, ?or SHAW?:
The marriage record does not give the bride's name, however the proof of the marriage is the signature of Mary Cary to a 16th April 1731 deed releasing her right in the estate of her sister Martha Standish. The article " Marriages in The Town of Bridgewater previous to its Division" (NEHGR 21:225-8) says "James Cary and Mary Shaw, 4th January 1681." It is possible that James Cary married both Mary Shaw and Mary Standish? If so, some or all of the children may not be Myles Standish descendants.

The will of James Cary of Bridgewater dated 18th October 1706, proved 4th March 1706, names wife Mary; son James Cary; daughters Marcy, Mary, Hannah and Elizabeth Cary.

One thing for sure the children of this couple are either Mayflower Passenger Francis Cooke's great grandchildren or Mayflower Passenger Myles Standish's grandchildren.
