       2. William² Lamb (James¹) was born 1804 in Pocahontas Co., VA. (WV), and died Abt. 1882 in Ritchie Co., WV.. He married Elizabeth Lamb May 24, 1834 in Pendleton Co., VA (WV), daughter of John Lamb and Catherine Kees.

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FROM AN UNPUBLISHED MANUSCRIPT FROM MARION ARTHUR...

William and Elizabeth Lamb are on the 1840 census of Pendleton county, then in Virginia. With them are William R. and Margaret, listed as 1 boy aged 5 to 10 and 1 girl aged 5 or under. In 1850 they are in the Highland County VA. census. He is aged 46, states he was born in Pocahontas county. There was no Pocahontas county in 1804. He was probably born in Bath or Pendleton County. They are on the 1860 census of Pocahontas county and in 1870 they are living in West Union, New Milton Township, Doddridge county, WV. At that time they were living in the same household with William's brother, Stephen and his wife Sallie. Sallie and Elizabeth were Sisters. In 1880, William and Elizabeth are in their own household in Ritchie County, WV. living alone.

William and Elizabeth Lamb were probably first cousins, their fathers James and john, brothers. There is no doubt there was a relationship.

William's occupation is listed as a "COOPER" (barrel & bucket maker) in the 1850 census of Highland Co., VA.

From Pocahontas Co., WV. deeds of trust and releases - Bk 6 Pg 377.
       This deed made the 26th day of February in the year 1855, between William Lamb and William R. Lamb of the one part, and Wm. S. Bruffer trustee of the other part. Witneseth, that the said Wm. S. Bruffer, the following property. One gray mare, one cow, 26 hogs, 6 beds & bedding, two rifle guns, 1 set carpenter tools, one mans saddle, and 3 plows, and all the house hold & kitchen furniture, belonging to the said Wm. Lamb & Wm. R. Lamb, on trust to secure two notes given to Thomas Lamb. One for the sum of fifty dollars bearing the date on the tenth day of January 1853 subject to a credit of three dollars January 15th 1855 and one for the sum of forty five dollars & twenty five cents, bearing date on the 2nd day of December 1854, the said Wm. Lamb & Wm. R. Lamb, grants all their right to the above property and the increase of the same, to secure the above debts & provided that if the said Wm. Lamb & Wm. R. Lamb, shall pay the same in 3 years from the date of this deed then this deed is void otherwise to remain in full force & notice.

       Children of William Lamb and Elizabeth Lamb are:

William Riley³ Lamb, born March 26, 1834 in Pocahontas Co. VA (WV); died December 16, 1898 in Ritchie Co., WV. (64Years).

Mary M. A. Lamb, born Abt. 1837 in Pendleton Co., VA. (WV). She married William M. Hughes August 22, 1854 in Pocahontas Co., VA. (WV).

William Hughes fought for the South during the Civil War, enlisted at Allegheny Mountain (Camp) on March 17, 1862 and served under Capt. James C. Arbogast's "Pocahontas County Riflemen". William was wounded on August 22, 1864 at Newtown skirmish...listed as a 3rd LT.

5. Jane M.² Lamb (James¹). She married Moses Hughes October 22, 1830 in Pocahontas Co. VA (WV).

William M.³ Hughes, born Abt. 1832 in Pocahontas Co., VA. (WV). He married Mary M. A. Lamb August 22, 1854 in Pocahontas Co., VA. (WV).
