When I took my morning walk I went to the courthouse to look for G. W. Botkin. In the death records for 1889-1909 (Book 2)located in the probate court office I found his death record. It says he died April 10, 1888 in Bokescreek twp. and was buried in Logan County. His occupation was listed as farmer and he died of consumption. The marriage information was also there. It stated that Melva Riner had her father's consent as she was 17 years of age. Certified copies of the death record can be ordered for $6.00 and the marriage record for $2.00. I forget what uncertified copies are - maybe 50cents. The Logan County Courthouse is located in Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. I tried to find a street address in phone book - it is located on Main Street right in the middle of town.
