| Gladys Sherman Hall, Paul Karnes, Edna Goldsmith, and myself, among others, are working on the compilation of the Settle family who lived in Culpeper, Virginia. Any information in regards to this family from others would really be appreciated. I have tried to be as accurate as possible, but I am only human so I'll admit that I may have made some mistakes. If you come across any, please let me know! Naturally, as any genealogist knows, I will be updating the information on this site periodically. I already have more to add on the Halterman, Hitt, Kilby, Settle, Sherman, Soule, and Tutwiler families, among others, but I just have not taken the time out of my very busy schedule - but, I can promise you that I will! When you go the the first Link, which is at the Library of Virginia, you will find the Pension Records for George W. Garnett Settle that were prepared by his widow, Mary Jane Weaver. In my opinion, these records definitely prove what the family has always said - that George W. Garnett Settle fought with Mosby's Rangers during the Civil War! When you go to the second Link which is at the Library of Congress, you first go to 1862, then Pope's Campaign, Numbers 4, 10, 14, and 21. Then you go to 1863, then Meade in Virginia, Numbers 15 and 16. However, there are many, many wonderful photographs on this super site. I will probably be adding photographs and more Links to this Site but as I said previously, there is this thing called "Time!" Enjoy your visit to this Site and if you have any information, whatsoever, that you can add, please let me know via E-Mail! Have a super day! |
