1. Shuck, Larry, Greenbrier co Virginia records Vol 2, (Athens GA: Iberian c1988), Joseph is not on the tax list of Greenbrier co in 1786 and John Sires has only 1 tithable. May mean that in 1786 Joseph was not yet 21. He was 21 by 1792 when he is on that tax list and since he married in 1787 he probably was 21 around that time.
2. 1880 Federal Census for Indiana - Carroll County, Rock Creek twp, taken 1st June 1880,Family 264, George Sires, son of Joseph, lists his father's place of birth as North Carolina.
