She was born March 12, 1827 in Georgia, and died July 12, 1881 in St. Clair Co., Alabama.

Notes for FRANCIS CAROLINE THORNTON:
Information on birth and death taken from Book of deaths in St. Clair Co., Alabama. The birth date does not match the statement on the 1870 Census, which would have her being born in 1825. The 1825 birth date would make her 15 when James Cato Rowe was born. The 1860 Census indicates her birthdate to be about 1827.

In the June 7, 1880 Census, Francis gives her age as 62, which would make her birth year 1818. That is more consistant with the above information. In the 1880 Census, Mattie, Lizzie, and Jackson are still living at home. Thomas is a few pages away. She states that she has heart disease.
