These pages are always under construction. More information is added as it is received / found. Currently, the information begins with Heinrich Schildt in Alsace Twp., Berks County, PA in the mid 1700's and finds its way to present day. Our ancestors are thought to have come from 13th century Bavaria. From what is understood, the Schildts fought as knights in the Crusades and were raised to nobility. Our European sources (Stefan, Sebastian, and Johan Schildt) have shared photos of the Coat of Arms, information on our family nobility, and have expressed that our name in the past was "Von Schildtlein". Aside from genealogical trees, below you will find information on the homestead north of Reading, PA and a link to photos of the farm; information on the surname; and links to the Schildt family forum, and the Society of Schildt's in Sweden, with more to come. If you have information to offer, or want to check to see if we have more information than is provided here; please contact me at the e-mail address below. Please note that these ever growing pages portray a combination of many hours of research - information gathered by the Schildt family here in the United States; and especially the hard work of Donna Morganti, Michelle Lynch, Bonnie Yuhas, Linda Waters, and Rose Shilt who I am ever indebted and thankful for their gracious help. I thank Kathy Czimcharo for information on the Schmehl family ancestors. We all thank you for visiting and hope these pages are helpful. We are hoping to hear from you! --- Darrell

- From the Penns to the Schildts - The Deed (7 KB)
Thanks to the Swishers for sharing photos of the original Deed and giving permission to publish them here at this site. The Deed is currently owned and in possession of our cousin; author and screenwriter, Christopher Schildt. Chris was one of the writers of the films Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and Star Trek: The Final Frontier. He also worked on the documentaries "The Eugene O'Neill Theater: The Art & Architecture of New England," "Star Trek's 30th Anniversary" and A & E "Crossroads: Science Fiction to Science Fact." Be sure to pick up his two novels, "Frankenstein, The Legacy" and "Night of Dracula" when you get a chance - I recommend them if you are a fan of horror novels. Back to the deed - here I have deciphered what I could make out from the photos. You can view the photos in the Family Photo section above.
