* The Edward Keith Shilts & Virginia May Shilts (Greenleaf)*

Updated December 14, 2009

Welcome to our friends and family. This is the story of our combined families The Shilts and The Greenleafs.

We can trace Edward‘s history to Germany when Matthias Schild came to America as a Hessian soldier to fight in the Revolutionary War. The family has grown and extends all across the country and includes members of the Pletcher, Mix, Roush, and Siders Families. The Roush and Siders line is the family of Ed’s Grandma Shilts, while the Pletcher and Mix line is the family of Ed’s mother.

Virginia Greenelaf’s ancestry goes back to the early years in America. Included are the Cox, Boucher, and LaCour Families.

The Cox and LaCour families are two of her great-grandmother's lines. The Cox Family came from England as Quakers to settle in the colonies for religious freedom. The LaCours came from France nearly 100 years before the Revolutionary War.

The Greenelaf's are her father's family, and the Boucher's are her mother's family. We have only been able to trace these two families to the early 1800. The Greenleafs moved south from Connecticut to Missouri and later into Louisiana. The Bouchers moved from Alabama to Missouri and later to Washington.

We would love to hear from anyone who has additional information on any of the individuals listed here.
