Steppin' In High Cotten
Steppin' In High CottenUpdated September 17, 2003
My research is the COTTEN line of my family.I started searching for this line about 1967 a few years later I passed it on to my mother, Catherine Cone Cotten. She was researching all our family lines but we have never made much progress on the COTTEN line.Seems our "Cottens" are very elusive.I wanted to finish this search to show my father who died in 1997.Now my mother is unable to research and I have picked this back up.I will continue on with my research and dedicate what I have foundon the Cotten and Cowin families to my father, Lewis Earl Cotten. The Cotten line is growing smaller and smaller.Girls seem to dominate our family line. The remaining Cotten line continues to get family information request from me.It's the past I want to fill in now. My father would often say that is Cotten with an “E”!We were steppin' in "high" Cotton or We slept in a bed not in a field. This always stayed with me and I thought it would be appropriate to name this page from his antic. Our Cottens didn't have reunions but anything one of them needed one another, they were there. This family seemed to be dedicated and bonded. They were hard workers. They were adventurous and made the best of what they had. They were farmers, blacksmiths, and entrepreneurs. I will fill in family news as it comes. This line needs to keep up with those we have left. The CONE and TIPTON lines, much of which was researched by my mother, Catherine Cone Cotten.I dedicate any additions to her. I have included all my family lines and my husband’s, Robert Ray MOORE SHIRLEY. I will be tying them all in together. All other family lines are dedicated to my children and grandchildren. Signing off, Cotton pickin’ Cotten
