Descendants of John Robert Collins

Generation No. 1

1. JOHN ROBERT1 COLLINS was born 1830-1860. He married REBECCA MIDDLETON.

Notes for R
EBECCA MIDDLETON:
This woman may have been a Native American Indian, either Cherokee or Delaware, or have a very strong Indian heritage.

It seems that Helen Tarpenning Shingledecker remembers one of her grandmothers as wearing native looking clothing and one of her aunts (Mat, probably Martha) as looking like an " Indian Squaw". This leads us to believe that the Indian connection comes from the Collins side of the family. It's fairly certain by memory that a Collins man married an Indian woman.

Children of J
OHN COLLINS and REBECCA MIDDLETON are:
2. i.   FRANCES W.2 COLLINS.
  ii.   MARTHA COLLINS.
  Notes for MARTHA COLLINS:
Helen Shingledecker remembers that Aunt Mat (most likely Martha) looked like an Indian squaw.

When Helen's mother, Frances Collins, died, Helen was sent to live with her Aunts, most likely on the Collins side since Charles Tarpenning remarried an unknown woman.
