Patrice Marie Shinabarger-Sheets Enumclaw,WA 98022 | I am researching the following surnames:SHINABARGER, PACKARD and MCDERMOTT.associated family names are BAKKEN, SHEAR and BROWN - although I don't have much information on any of these lines. The SHINABARGERS come from Virginia originally: John SHINABARGER, moved to Pennsylvania and then to Mount Vernon in Knox County Ohio.Future generations have moved to Indiana/Ohio/Midwest, and then Franklin Ernest SHINABARGER moved to the Grays Harbor area around 1888 and later established his family in the Snohomish/Everett area. Future generations of SHINABARGERS have settled in Seattle, Spokane, Bellingham and Tonasket, WA. The PACKARDS come from the PACKARDS of Bridgewater, MASS. Samuel Packard arrived in Massachusetts in 1638.The route they have followed to Washington was through Vermont, New York, Wisconsin, and finally Myron Winslow PACKARD settled in the Snohomish area in 1871.His grandchildren later settled in Eagledale, near the town of Winslow, on Bainbridge Island.Maryan PACKARD married William Frank SHINABARGER. MCDERMOTT - here's a mystery. The family seems to be from Oneida County, NY.I have been researching them for about four years without getting much of anywhere.Thomas and Sarah Jane (Jennie or Lucy) MCDERMOTT had four children - Mary Elma, Katherine (Kittie), Grace, and Frank.Sarah (b. abt April 1847) died in 2 May 1884 in Rome, NY and Thomas (b. abt 1845) died around 4 Mar 1889 - The girls went to a convent school/boarding school and Frank went to live with his aunt and uncle in South Dakota.I am looking for information on Thomas MCDERMOTT - they ran the McDermott Troy Steam Laundry in Rome, NY until at least 1892. |
