1701/2 13 Feb, John Adams to John Shirley- 60 acres, located on the left side of the main road from Cone Mill toward Quintenoake. One of the corners of this land is "the place which is called the marked hickory by the R.L. Roade, thence along a line of marked trees that parts the land of RICHARD SHIRLEY and this land."
In 1715 he sold land to Robt Harrison.. Appraiser was Richard Oldham.

1715. Order book 1713-1719 page 111 June 15, 1715 Richard Shirley having acknowledged a deed of indenture for land with ye livery and seizen theron, endorsed unto Robert Harrison and Anne Shieley, ye wife of ye said Richard, having relinquished her right of Dower to ye sd. land, on ye sd. Robert Harrison's motion the sd. deed is admitted to record. [Robert Harrison family lived Albermarle and Goochland Co. Va and then to Orange Co. NC.

1702 April 16, 1702 John Adams and Katherine, his wife, acknowledged a conveyance of 60 acres land unto John Shirley.

1705/6 March 12. William Grady of Stafford County to JOHN SHIRLEY of Northumberland- one moiety (half) of 100 acres located near the head of Coan River, said land first granted to Col. John Trussell and by him assigned to James Claughton, who assigned it to Robert Seck and John Coutanceau, who divided it. Coutanceau then sold his 50 acres to Henry Moseley, who sold it to Jos. Edmunds whose attorney sold it to John Oliver. Oliver died without heirs, and the land escheated and was bougth by Robert Wilson who had married Oliver's widow. They sold the land to Walter Grady, whose heir was the said William Grady. Said land located on King's Creek

1763 James Shirley of Culpeper Co., land from John Jones and Catherine his wife from New Kent Co. VA. 100 acres being part of a larger patent granted William Duff at the beginning point on the South side of Robinson River running down to the mouth of a larger branch called Quakers Run.

1765 On motion of Christopher Crigler, it is entered that James Shurley be appointed surveyor of road from Robinson River to a pine on Muddy Run.
