Merle/Shoemaker Home Page

I am researching the families of MERLE and SHOEMAKER. To begin with, I have trace the Merle Family back to Anna/Annie/Anion Merley, born in Hessen, Darmstadt, Germany. Her son, Philip/Phillip was born in Pennsylvania in 1851. In 1870-1880, the Merley name was changed to Merle. Philip married Ida B. Hare. They had two children, Lewis Raymond and Walter Scott. Lewis Raymond did not marry and died of a fall off the farm house roof in 1947? Walter Scott inheredited the property, married Gertrude Jeanatta Ramsey. They had three children: Walter R., Russell Scott, and Betty Ann. Russell/Russel Scott married Dorothy May Burton, having three children: Alma Mae, Brenda Sue, and Russell Scott Jr.
