The Shumate children were all born in this home. It has since burned and all that remain are the foundation rocks. The Burton Family Cemetery is located right beside it. The cemetery was taken care of and a fence put around it, etc., but owners of the land use it for pasture and the cows keep breaking the fence and knocking over the tombstones.
